The Design Process

The first step is for you to meet with Annette and see some of her work. She has many examples at her studio as well as numerous photographs. After you have decided you would like Annette to design a gown or outfit for you, she'll have a number of questions such as:

  • What will the outfit be used for (wedding, careerwear, special occasion)
  • What fabric(s) do you like (silk, lace, wool, cotton, polyster, etc)
  • Will the finished product be one piece or two? Should it be lined?
Based on your answers to the above, Annette will start to gather details that will allow her to provide you with an estimate. Once you have agreed on a price and design Annette will get started on a sketch of how she sees what you have described.

Once you have both agreed on a look and that the sketch describes the outfit or gown you want, she'll need to take your measurements. For wedding gowns you'll need to schedule your first fitting about 5 months before the big day. There will be several additional fittings and about one month before the ceremony you'll be able to pick up your dress.

For careerwear the timeframe is usually shorter but if you need an outfit for a particular occasion, make sure to tell Annette the date when you first talk. (Shown below and on the following pages, are many of her designs, from concept sketch to finished outfit.)
